Solomon Fine Art was originally established by Suzanne Macdougald in 1981 and for many years was located in Powerscourt Town House in Dublin. In 2011 the gallery moved to its current premises in Balfe Street, situated next door to the Westbury Hotel and just a stone’s throw from Grafton Street in the heart of Dublin’s premier city centre arts & shopping district. After almost 40 years in the business Suzanne announced her retirement in March 2013 and Tara Murphy, the Solomon’s long standing Gallery Director since 1994, decided to take over the business on an independent basis.
Now considered one of Ireland’s leading contemporary art galleries, the Solomon has built its reputation on representing Irish and international artists working primarily in a figurative style. The Solomon also specialises in sculpture and regularly organises major off-site outdoor exhibitions. Gallery artists include: Jean Bardon, Leah Beggs, John Behan, Sandra Bell, John Brobbel, Cheryl Brown, Colm Brennan, Anna Campbell, Comhghall Casey, John Coll, Kieran Crowley, Orla de Bri, Ana Duncan, Mike Duhan, Margaret Egan, Rowan Gillespie, Ronan Halpin, James Hanley RHA, Leo Higgins, Patrick O’Reilly, Ian Pollock, Bob Quinn, John Short, Rose Stapleton & Imogen Stuart.
